Cambridge Computer Recycling - Recycling Policy
Our Recycling Policy
It is our policy to recycle as much of each computer as possible to try to ensure that as little as possible finds its way into waste tips for our future generations.
Cases: Go to a local scrap metal merchant for recycling.
Circuit boards and CPUs: Those that we cannot sell are melted down and the precious metals recovered.
Hard drives: All working hard drives above 8.4Gb are wiped and put up for sale. Smaller drives and those that fail testing are are scrapped for the circuit boards and metal content.
Keyboards: Are waste, no body wants them and they go to the tip.
Monitors: All the better quality monitors are taken by a sub-contractor for testing and sale, either on Ebay or in bulk to the refurbishing trade. Older and faulty monitors are sold on for repair and refurbishment.
Printer: Laser printers are tested and where functional, are sold on. Older lasers and most inkjets have no commercial market and are stripped for their recycleable parts.
If you are a recycler and feel that you would wish to offer us money for any of our waste, feel free to contact us.
